MERCURIAL PATHWAYS

Why have certain places been considered sacred across the centuries? Who were the megalith builders? What systems of measurement were used? How did the play of sun, moon, and stars influence their choices? Why does the sanctity of some places sometimes survive longer than the religions that sanctify them? Why are some places aligned? The precision of ancient alignments and ley lines speaks of sophisticated civilisations and lost technologies which do not seem to be reflected in the archeological record. Phi, or the golden ratio, often crops up. I begin with the Michael alignment from Skellig Michael to Mount Carmel, via Saint Michael's Mount, the Mont Saint-Michel, Le Mans, the Sacra di San Michele, Monte Gargano, and Delphi, and look at other lines through Stonehenge, Glastonbury and Avebury, Carnac, Chartres, Rouen, and many more.
